Almost 4 month

I am almost four months old. That means I will go to the doctor's office again next week and I hope I don't get poked by the nurse lady like last time, but who knows... But here are some things I have learned in the past a few months outside mommy's tummy.

1. First and foremost, I am big! I didn't realize how big I was until mommy and daddy brought me to a class. Yes, I go to school. Once a week. There everyone is older than me, but all smaller than me. That doesn't make me look very good. Oh well.

2. I am very sensitive to wind, heat, weird food that I don't know what they are, and sound. I don't sleep when there is noise around me. And I break out in rashes when it is too hot, too dry, too windy, and when mommy eats something yummy from the sea.

3. I am not very bright. Or mommy says so. But mommy will make sure that I am the most damn hard working one. And I can do great things if I work really really really hard. Being smart won't get me anywhere. (not to mention that I am not that smart)

4. I love to sing. I sing when mommy sings, grandma sings, and even when grandpa sings.

5. I am really afraid of going outside. I don't like noisy big things, like a car. I really don't like when wind blows my way. I am afraid of big crowd. When the store is empty, I am rather happy to shop with mommy and grandma.

6. I don't like the stroller very much, even the very nice one Daddy got me for running with him. I am much more comfortable going outside when mommy wears me in a wrap.

7. I love school and my friends there. I have video to approve it!

8. Like mommy, I like quietness when I sleep. So no chance for me to zzzzzzzzzzzzzz when there is even tinny tinny bit of noise. Like that day, I was sooooooooo mad when mommy woke me up by turning the light switch.

Piano practice

Can I get out of practicing today?
Mommy and Daddy have been listening to a book on parenting. "Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother" by Amy Chua. And I have been listening too. My favorite part are the descriptions of all the ways to try to get out of practicing piano.

So, a couple of days ago, mommy tried to get me to practice piano for the first time. And I was ready.

  1. I pooped (so I needed a clean diaper)

  2. I told mommy I wanted to eat

  3. I spit up all over my clothes (with the milk I just ate) so grandma and grandpa had to change me.

And then we had people come over. Success! No piano practice.

Crying at the piano
But I think mommy and daddy got further in the book. Because today, they tried again. And I tried to spit up on my clothes to see if that would get me out of piano practice. And mommy and daddy just laughed at me and said that I had to practice piano first, then change into new clothes. So I had to practice piano today.

Dancing with daddy

Dancing with daddy
Originally uploaded by LugerLA
I've been visiting and calling the doctor because I'm crying alot and my tummy does not feel good. The doctor says it is colic. Mommy and daddy are suspicious because they don't think I'm crying enough for that [Ed note: You don't have to get better at crying if you don't want to]. I think that this makes grandma and grandpa very unhappy because mommy and daddy make me drink this yucky brown stuff that grandma brought from China.

So when I cry real loud, I get to dance with daddy. He tells me that he and mommy like to dance too. And sometimes, daddy puts on music that he says mommy and daddy once dressed up very nice to dance to in front of a lot of people. [Ed note: Eric's Song by Vienna Teng] I like it when we spin and turn a lot. And I sometimes get distracted so I stop crying.

Grandparent shift change

Grandparents meet grandson

Many more changes. First grandma left and the house felt so quiet for a couple days. Then another grandma came. This time with a grandpa!? That's something new.

Grandma has been worried that I don't cry enough, so I've tried to do that more then before. Only problem is that my tummy does not feel so good *waaah* Doctor says that this will pass in another week or so. Then when they don't expect it, I'll surprise new grandma and new grandma a new trick I was learning before they got here. Smiling!

Visitors aplenty

Cousins on stairs

Last week was exciting. It was just mommy, daddy, Khun Ya (Grandma) and me forever. Then we had all these visitors come to stay in our house. First was second auntie. She was here for only a few days. But she is so tiring to keep up with. She was always wanting to play into the night when I was trying to go to sleep.

After little auntie left, then my big cousin J came to visit. And he brought first auntie and uncle along too. They stayed a whole week. J was very exited the whole time. Running around, talking, watching something on TV. Lots of fun from morning to night. It feels so quiet after they left.

First outing: Dinner at Bangkok Balcony

First outing
Originally uploaded by LugerLA
I've been having a fun couple weeks. Mommy, Daddy and I have been playing a couple of rounds of detective. I have only been giving them easy ones so far, but they had to call my doctor for help on one already. But when they get better, I'll give them tougher problems.

Today I left the house again. But this time I did not go to my doctor's office. Mommy, daddy, auntie, khun ya (grandma) and I went someplace where all the big people eat. Lots of big people. They ate. I napped, then had dinner too (because everyone else was doing that). And I napped on daddy while he ate.

We ate with some friends. Uncle A and auntie A, and big sister A and big brother A. The A's are experts in doing outings so mommy and daddy like doing things with them. This outing thing is fun, and does not look too hard. Maybe I'll do more of them.

Exploring outside

Today was a big day. First, after continuing to demonstrate my production skills I went in the car for another ride with mommy and daddy. We went the same place as we did the first time. And they made me take off my clothes while this strange but friendly guy prodded me everywhere. He was very happy with me. He said that I was 'thriving'. Mommy and Daddy were happy too. But he also said something about how to wake me up when I want to fall asleep while eating. Not very nice.

We used the car seat again later. But this time Daddy and Grandma and I did not go in the car. Instead we put the car seat in a stroller and went for a short walk near the house. I think daddy wanted to go faster, but did not today.

I thought going outside was enough exercise but when we got back, mommy and daddy played and then they put me on my tummy and wanted me to push my head up. Once was ok. Twice was getting old. But by the third time I was tired. This exercise stuff is hard.
